Senate Resolution No. 59

Senator T. Buford introduced the following resolution which was ordered to be printed.

A RESOLUTION honoring and commending Dr. Louis Walker Arnold, known as The Flying Evangelist, for his nearly 80 years of dedicated Baptist Ministry.

WHEREAS, Dr. Arnold is a native son of the Commonwealth, having grown up and started his preaching ministry in Garrard and Boyle Counties, and

WHEREAS, Dr. Arnold has been a pastor, a church organizer and builder, a radio preacher, a missionary, an author, and an evangelist; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Arnold has ministered throughout Kentucky; from the hills of eastern Kentucky to the croplands of western Kentucky and from the urban cities of Kentucky's northern borders to the small towns of southern Kentucky. Dr. Arnold has also ministered throughout the United States and in the Bahamas, Mexico, Central America, and Europe; and

Whereas, Dr. Arnold is known as The Flying Evangelist in 1944 he learned to fly and started commuting by airplane between churches where he was preaching in Kentucky and Ohio. Dr. Arnold used the planes to further expand his ministry to churches and revivals in other states and countries, often broadcasting his message from a loudspeaker system he had installed on the various planes he flew; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Arnold is here at the Capitol today to participate in the Kentucky Call to Prayer Day sponsored by the Kentucky General Assembly Prayer Caucus; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Arnold has published many books of sermons, Bible studies, prophecies, and inspirational stories. Today, Dr. Arnold is giving a copy of his book, "Day Starters" to each member of the Kentucky General Assembly;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby honor and commend Dr. Louis Walker Arnold for his many years of faithful and dedicated Baptist ministry.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Dr. Louis Walker Arnold.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transit a copy of this Resolution to Dr. Louis Walker Arnold, 2440 Bethel Road, Nicholasville, Kentucky 40356.
